O Ricardo é de Alhos Vedros – Portugal e realizou SVE em Palermo em Itália. Esta é a partilha da sua experiência!
I decided to go to Sicily because I wanted to know what life was like in another country, another city, meet new people, other cultures and fantastic places.
During the two months of volunteering, I’ve learned to manage my fears, to break language barriers and challenges that were very enriching for my personal growth. But mostly, I found the gain to mingle with people from other countries and other cultures and develop projects for the community, working in nature reserves, performing tasks to improve the environment.
During the EVS project I was also in contact with children and adults with cognitive disabilities, which was very rewarding, to help these people to explore their creativity.
The EVS is not only about the work, there are also recreational areas, such as visiting the city, fantastic beaches such as the beach of “Mondello” in Palermo, which I really liked, especially by the water temperature and the surrounding landscape. The rich gastronomy Folder and its famous pizzas also delighted me.
Volunteering for me was a unique experience that marked my life.I recommend to all who have not yet had this opportunity to share this experience. As soon as I can I would repeat.
